2011 Goals

I’m thinking goals this year. I need to be a little more specific, yet a little more simple, and set out to achieve some semi-measurable goals.

Kyle and I discussed how the New Year, the end of 365 days, we see as measuring goals in a more numerical sense, while the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, measures our spiritual goals. I’m sure the two could be combined. They both have their importance in my life.

I was set into goal setting motion after reading the post “Why you shouldn’t make New Year’s Resolutions” by Alana at Domestically Challenged. I’ve attempted to make my goals categorical. And for some reason, I want to have 20 goals to work towards. Twenty seems doable with the year I forsee in store for us – sleepless nights, swimming in kids, etc.

My Goals for 2011:

Family Life

1.      Prepare for our girls.
2.      Go out on at least 4 dates with my husband.
3.      Declutter our life – especially the office!
4.      Find affordable family time, outings, and activities.
5.      Engage in volunteer activities (mitzvah) that give back to our community.

Food

6.      Get back in the habit of developing menu plans.
7.      Find affordable, budget friendly, yet healthy, delicious tasting recipes.
8.      Involve the kids (when possible) in cooking.

Parenting

9. Continue to learn more about positive parenting techniques by reading books and practicing strategies already learned.
10. Seek to engage kids in creative activies – art, building, etc.
11. Continue developing Tot School learning activites.

Health

12.  Run the  Rock N Roll Half Marathon in November.
13.  Get back on track with Weight Watchers.
14.  Make time for healthy activities with the kids.

Blogging

15.   Develop a monthly writing schedule.
16.  Stick to writing on that schedule as much as possible.
17.  Attempt a “Giveaway.”
18.  Continue practicing Problogger techniques and strategies for building a better blog.

Miscellaneous

19.  Figure out a strategy (sell some junk, save some money, etc) to get a new camera.

And most importantly…

20.  “…to thine own self be true.”

When all else fails, I can always refer to the Huffington Post’s tips on 10 Easy Ways to Recharge in 2011, easy practical advice.

Welcome 2011, I know it is going to be a challenging one, so let’s be friends.

Time to get crack-a-lackin’ on that blogging schedule.

Hi. I am new to your blog (via SITSgirls). Great goals. I have become very overwhelmed with the idea of resolutions, but setting goals feels so right! Instead of giving up something, plan to gain, right?! Great post and Happy New Year!

I wish I had some declutter tips to share. At one point in my life, I hired an organizer, which helped. She was expensive and I realized she was basically just helping me sort through everything and make quick decisions instead of pondering what I should keep. Alas, the I had to choose between an organizer and a housekeeper. The housekeeper was the keeper! Thanks for stopping by Melissa!
